Fun at the Festival
Dear Blog,
I recently attended the Yarmouth Clam Festival which was a blast to do with friends! Joe and I won a stuffed animal from the darts booth by yelling "POP" when we missed a balloon. The guy behind the counter counted it every time, but probably because he talked us into a ten dollar game in the first place. I love you Joe :) Unfortunately we didn't go on any carnival rides since it was a cash only affair and we forgot to account for that. Though, we had an absolute blast walking around the art and crafts booths with friends Sarah, April, Heather and their charming significant others. During our walk through the rows of glass art, lobster drawings, Maine posters and wool hats we stumbled upon some unique and elegant pieces. This lady's work was one of my faves!
Beautiful and relatively inexpensive, original and whimsical, I love her work and highly recommend it ladies! She handcrafts these little treasures herself. Another woman who had a great eye for jewelry making was Zoe: http://www.wix.com/annebonnysbooty/annebonnysbooty
Her style is earthy and sometimes ethnic with the use of some pretty substantial stones and bright, gorgeous colors. Jewels weren't the only thing we perused however. There were many talented painters, a maker of marbles, a crafter of mahogany plane and car models that were surprisingly cool... All kinds of talents were out on display. Let's not forget the maple sugars vendor! Oh my. I'd forgotten how those little treats melt away like smooth butter over your tongue. The only thing that could have turned that beautiful blue-sky day into a hellish place was, once again, the heat. We stayed cool by finding shadows to stall in and lime rickey's to drink. Though if you know me, you know I don't like fruit. Which obviously includes lime. So I had water.
It ended up being a wonderful weekend overall. It was Joe's birthday on Friday so I made him a stack of pancakes with candles and gave him a nerf gun which he has now painted, promoting himself to, "Owner of the coolest nerf gun in the office" I'm sure. On Saturday I took him to Cinque Terre to celebrate and let me say, what a meal!! If you have a special occasion to celebrate I give this restaurant high marks for atmosphere, food, drink, service, and overall experience.
Finally, Sunday evening we packed up Joe's truck with some of my things and he brought them back to Boston, leaving me to another night of spaghetti and packing cardboard boxes. At the end of the night I pulled out my guitar and sat in the dining room with the windows open. It was hot, but there was a slight breeze coming in through the screens. I almost fell asleep sitting at the dining room table, listening to the sound of the leaves rustling and my fan humming in the other room. After a few songs I was ready for bed and boy, did I sleep late the next morning. I'd wake up on half hour intervals and think "I'm going to go back to bed, just because I can." Glorious. All is well for a lady who gets enough sleep. Which means it's currently time for me to go. Sleep well everyone. Oh I wanted to share a quote with you too before I go. It's a tattoo that the girl who is replacing me at work has on her shoulder. It says, "Act justly, love tenderly, walk humbly" I like that... Goodnight.
